The taxonomy and biology of Eutreta (Diptera: Tephritidae)

E. novaeboracensis is probably an oligophagous species attacking rhizomes of Solidago altissima and occasionally attacking one or more species of Solidago. Such a range of larval food follows more closely the typical pattern of the gall-forming Tephritidae.

Tunnels rhizomes, rhizome gall on Solidago sp.
