Gallformers ID Notes

In this gall the entire shoot tip--and sometimes the entire shoot--is reddened, with the terminal leaves sometimes taking on a flower-like appearance. Blisters and/or hypertrophy may also occur on the reddened shoot. (If reddening, blisters, and/or hypertrophy affect individual leaves, but not the entire shoot tip, the gallformer should instead be identified as Exobasidium arctostaphyli.)

Further research is needed to determine whether this is indeed a separate species from Exobasidium arctostaphyli, and whether Exobasidium arctostaphyli itself is a single species or a species complex.
