Plant Galls of the Western United States

Vein Gall Midge
Asphondylia sp.

Galls have sparse hairs and nearly obliterate the midrib. Galls measure 7 mm long by 5 mm wide and bulge out more noticeably than those of the midrib fold-gall midge. Each gall has a corresponding lip or slit on the leaf's dorsal surface.

Host:
Ceanothus velutinus
