The sexual generation of Neuroterus quercusverrucarum has not been described or recorded informally. However, Neuroterus floccosus was treated as a junior synonym of quercusverrucarum until the paper in which its sexgen was described, and because the species are still likely to be very similar, we tentatively presume that galls like the sexgen of N floccosus on hosts other than Quercus bicolor and macrocarpa are most likely to be the sexgen of quercusverrucarum. According to Scott Digweed (personal communication), the sexgen galls of N floccosus, which occur in the spring as the leaves unfold, are rarely encountered under natural conditions even where the agamic galls are prevalent. The galls are unlike the agamic galls of Neuroterus niger in being "surprisingly “discrete”, with very well-defined edges" and "consistently reddish-brown."
