Deformed galls of Andricus crystallinus. The affected galls were much wider, lumpier, and less pink in color than unaffected galls, and the swelling of the galls caused the tendrils of the gall to be much sparser than on unaffected galls. They are likely affected by an inquiline, which may or may not be Synergus filicornis, the only inquiline listed on this gall inducer by Nastasi and Deans.
Observed on an oak tentatively identified as Quercus douglasii in California in September.
