A chalcid gall. Globular rugose bullets, 6 m. in dia. Myrtopsen minosae has been reared from this gall also.

This wasp has been associated with two different galls on catclaw. The second gall is a detachable, round, monothalamous gall often found in clusters along stems of catclaw. The surface of these galls is broken into plates, with a small thorn or bristle emanating from each plate.

It appears that what Russo refers to as the "small thorn or bristle" of the T. howardii gall rises slim and untapered from a basically spherical surface divided into "plates." By contrast, the "bristle" of the Contarinia gall gradually tapers from a fleshy base that is itself tapered. To complicate matters further, the two galls may occur right next to each other.
