Gallformers ID Notes

Many small, green, hairless leaf spots on a leaf of Quercus velutina, causing a slight contraction in a darker green ring around a light-green thickening of the lamina of the leaf a tiny green-to-black papilla at the center on the upper side. On the under side a very slight downward swelling is visible. The galls are approximately 1 mm in diameter. Observed in Michigan in October on all 7 leaves of a young seedling.

This may be Polystepha pustulata, simpla, or sobrina, but is markedly smaller than the reported size of any of those species.
