Long, thin, conical, hairless galls projecting straight up or slightly leaning from near the midrib of an undetermined Salix sp. [bebbiana chosen as a plausible placeholder]. The galls are much longer than those of similar Iteomyia spp, and are distinct in having largely symmetrical projections above and below the leaf. The projections sometimes diverge into fasciation-like fingers at the tip. Early galls and shaded galls are yellow-green while those exposed to the sun turn a strong ripe-chili-pepper red by late July. Dense clusters are sometimes associated with curling of the leaf. Observed in Alaska in June and July.
