Identification to genus Rhopalomyia provided by Raymond J. Gagné in a personal communication to Greg Froelich on June 2, 2024, as documented here. Dr. Gagné based the ID on examination of the empty gall.

A tight, white-hairy, leafy rosette on Hazardia squarrosa. Observed in California in January.
