Gallformers ID Notes

Leafy rosette gall occuring on both terminal and axillary buds on Artemisia filifiolia. The leaves forming the rosette are linear in shape and expand abruptly at the base of the gall, where the leaves merge together. The genus ID of Rhopalomyia has not been confirmed but is likely based on other rosette gall-forming insects on closely related Artemisia species. Observed in Utah and New Mexico.
