Gallformers ID Notes

Several woody galls textured with fresh bark, at the base of a shoot of Acer rubrum, possibly developed from buds. These galls strongly resemble eg the woody developed form of Synergus lignicola on oaks, but are definitely associated with a maple twig. No gall of this type is known from maple. Observed in Massachusetts in September.
