Gallformers ID Notes

An elongated conical bud gall in a leaf axil of Encelia californica, covered in long white hairs nearly but not entirely obscuring the dark surface of the gall. Thick-walled and green inside, containing a single larva apparently of a cecidomyiine fly. Observed in California in December.
