Gallformers ID Notes

These small, inconspicuous galls are composed of an extremely stunted pair of needles swollen at the base to form a larval chamber where a single Cecidomyiid is found. The galls are surrounded at the base by brown needle sheaths that sometimes almost cover the entire gall. Larvae were found in galls in January in Utah. These galls have been photographed in Utah and New Mexico.
