Gallformers ID Notes

Large, globular, green galls found at the base of leaves of Cryptantha pterocarya. Galls are covered in erect white hairs and appear to be an integral swelling of the leaf, and sometimes occur on flower buds as well. A Cecidomyiid larva emerged from a gall collected in Arizona in March, suggesting that this species may pupate in soil.
