Gallformers ID Notes

Swelling occurs under the branch/bud scales of last season's shoots. Galls are cryptic and are not obvious unless the scales are removed from the end of the branch, or the branch is pulled away from the scales. Midges over-winter as larvae and emerge as adults at the end of spring. Found in AK but expected elsewhere.
