Gallformers ID Notes

Depressions on coffeeberry leaves, similar to those made on Syzygium leaves by Trioza adventicia, but probably shallower and less clearly defined, are probably induced by Trioza beameri. See discussion here, but note that the ID on the page was set as tentative (using an iNaturalist technique for blocking an ID from being treated as a confirmed ID that can be reported).

These galls, if found on Frangula californica and occupied by nymphs that match those in the photo above, may be identified to genus as Trioza. If they are are found in summer, any adult psyllids that can be found on the bush -- or beaten from it, equipment permitting -- should be photographed with a note mentioning the galled leaf.
