GALL
Leaf fold. As Chris Mallory, who has studied N. American psyllids for many years, explained, the nymphs conceal themselves in malformed leaves which fold in half as a result of their feeding. The leaf folds occur on Rhamnus crocea and R. ilicifolia and are known from California, Nevada, and Colorado.
SIMILAR GALLS
A very similar leaf fold gall on what appeared to be Rhamnus crocea contained midge larvae.
