The larvae develop in twig galls on Brachylaena discolor DC. and B. elliptica (Thunb.) DC. The galls are usually situated towards the end of a twig but are seldom actually terminal (Munro 1925). They are usually elongate, spindle-shaped, of varying proportions and hardness, usually 8-20 mm long, but sometimes larger or smaller and even inconspicuous. Puparium black, 4.0-5.5 mm long, 2.2-2.7 mm wide.
