According to Munro (1926a), the larvae develop in inconspicuous twig galls on Brachylaena species, with those on the axils of leaves much larger than those formed on developing inflorescences. The two galls from Pretoria studied by us are rather conspicuous, monothalamous, almost spherical and about 10 mm in diameter. One gall is terminal, the other is not. The identity of B. rotundata mentioned below (under Material examined) is not confirmed. Puparium (one studied) coal-black, with rather inconspicuous segmentation; distance between posterior spiracles about three times as large as spiracle; 4.5 mm long, 2.0 mm wide.
