"The non-fertile spermogonia, which appear on the stromal wall from the early stages of development, are less conspicuous in C. gamundiae than in C. hookeri. Once mature, they either fall off or remain dry on the tumors, which are mostly found on young branches.

Advanced Stage (without open apothecia) 17.55–21.87 mm×11.13–14.09 mm. Mature Stromata (with open apothecia): 17.55–21.87 mm ×17.85–18.25 mm. Colour 10 YR 4/8. Ascospores ellipsoid, subglobose to globose, 21.8±1.17×19.2±1.36 μm (Q=1.14±0.10), with hyaline, smooth walls up to 1.4–3 μm thick; covered with a smoke-colored, less than 0.5 μm thick membrane, smooth or irregularly wrinkled forming a variable number of appendages-like structures. They are seen in 8-ascospores packages found in the spore-print, as a (possible) gluing material formed within the ascus previous to the puffing process.
