Banks 1904: "In galls on cotton leaves, island of Montserrat, and other islands, West Indies; leaves distorted, crumpled with abundant hairs inside the galls." Keifer et al., 1982; The mites infest flower buds and any part arising from the bud, causing contortion, abortion, or short petioles. Young plants are stunted, have irregular growth, and lack flowering branches. The mites cause chlorosis and whitish blisters on leaves.
