A new neotropical species of Clinodiplosis (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), an important new pest of cultivated peppers (Capsicum spp.: Solanaceae)

The white larvae of the gall midge cause swellings on stems, leaves, and bases of flowers. Galls can be found all year round and, where locally abundant, the cecidomyiid is a serious pest. Larvae live singly in cells within the swellings.
