The Gall Midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae: Cecidomyiinae) From Allegheny County Pennsylvania

Schizomyia vernoniae Plakidas is a univoltine species which attacks the flower blossoms of Vernonia noveboracensis (Linnaeus). Infested flower heads have no apparent gall formation and are only slightly larger than uninfested flower heads.
