A small bud gall on Quercus phellos in spring, green with pink-red tips, covered sparsely in stellate hairs. The structure of the gall is striking and unique, with an almond-shaped central larval cell surrounded by three evenly spaced flared wings, swept up above the tip of gall. Observed in April in North Carolina.
