The plant-feeding gall midges of North America

Enlarged bud...Asphondylia ilicoides Felt

Infested buds are ovoid, green, 5 mm long, 3 mm in diameter, and are reportedly inhabited by several larvae, presumably in individual cells. Galls were collected in mid-June, and adults emerged shortly after. Host.: N. mucronatus. Distr.: New York.
