Enlarged flower bud.
Felt (1918a, 1921) attributed the damage to Clinodiplosis apocyni (Felt), but a contarinia collected simultaneously from the same damage was probably responsible. The contarinia was reared in August from larvae taken the same year, so this species probably has more than one generation per year. Host: A. androsaemifolium. Distr.: New York.
