In addition to the species keyed below, two others were reared from galls that were not described in adequate detail. They are Rhopalomyia astericaulis Felt, reared from an ovoid stem gall on Aster novaeangliae in Massachusetts, and Rhopalomyia asteriflorae Felt, reared from abnormally bunched or stunted heads of Aster paniculatus [syn. Symphyotrichum undulatum in POWO, but may instead refer to S. lanceolatum; Gagné refers to an "Aster undulatus" elsewhere in this book] in New York.
