The plant-feeding gall midges of North America

[on Hymenoclea [≤ Ambrosia per POWO 2023]:]

White-woolly terminal bud gall ... Asphondylia sp. and cecidomyiid

Asphondylia sp. Galls are monothalamous. Adults emerged from the galls in May. Host: H. salsola.

Cecidomiid. Felt (1940) referred to this species as Rhopalomyia hymenocleae, but the species was never formally described and the name is not available....This species is possibly responsible for a different woolly bud gall. Host: H. salsola.
