In addition to bladder galls, Hodgkiss (1913) described four species of eriophyids that are associated with erineum on leaves of red maple in New York. They are Eriophyes major Hodgkiss, E. minutissimus (Hodgkiss), E ornatus Hodgkiss [now a synonym of E major], and E quinquilobus (Hodgkiss).

Described from individuals found among red erineum galls on the upper surfaces of leaves of the red maple, Acer rubrum L.
