The gall's range is computed from the range of all hosts that the gall occurs on. In some cases we have evidence that the gall does not occur across the full range of the hosts and we will remove these places from the range. For undescribed species we will show the expected range based on hosts plus where the galls have been observed.

The Gall Midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) of Mountainmints, Pycnanthemum Spp. (Lamiaceae)
Raymond J. Gagne
(2018)
Neolasioptera menthae Felt (1909b: 288) was described from a male and two females reared from a "mint" in the vicinity of Chicago...
...one cannot be certain that N. menthae came from Mentha. Plakidas's drawing of the larval spatula of a specimen from Mentha fits spatulae of N. lycopi and N. salviae...N menthae is unidentifiable and considered here a nomen dubium.
[We'll use this page on gallformers as a placeholder for the Neolasioptera-like gall Plakidas reported from Mentha arvensis since the name N. menthae cannot be applied with certainty.]
