Host: Quercus agrifolia, chrysolepis, garryana, vaccinifolia, wislizenii [(wislizenii inferred). Quercus alba and macrocarpa listed as erroneously given hosts in prior sources]

Relationship: Erineum pockets on lower surfaces of leaves.

Notes: There may be several sibling species on these oaks; careful rearing and DNA research should be done.

Locality: CA, SD [error? none of its hosts occur there], WA

Hosts: all live oaks in the black and intermediate groups

Erineum pockets on the underside of leaves are normally rusty brown but can also be beige, pink, or rosy. These pockets are matched by corresponding convex bumps on dorsal surface.

Plant Galls of the Western United States

Xue et al and Amrine both list Quercus garryana as a host, citing Bachelor's report in "The Eriophyid mites of the state of Washington." However, this is the only host outside of the intermediate and red oak groups, and erineum galls [seen on Q garryana](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/13161931) seem to more closely resemble those of [Aceria trichophila](https://www.gallformers.org/gall/1116), which is known from two white-group oaks in the area (Quercus douglasii and gambelii). Our host listing is tentatively adjusted to match the assumption that the gall on Q garryana is A trichophila, not mackiei.
