The gall's range is computed from the range of all hosts that the gall occurs on. In some cases we have evidence that the gall does not occur across the full range of the hosts and we will remove these places from the range. For undescribed species we will show the expected range based on hosts plus where the galls have been observed.

Phylloxera caryaecaulis
Hosts: Carya glabra, ovata
[Phylloxera caryaemagna has previously been considered a synonym of this gall, and the two are very similar in appearance. Dr Hamilton notes in couplets 12 and 13 of her first key (page 115 of the pdf), that P caryaemagna is pubescent and spongy, while caryaecaulis has hard walls and a glabrous exterior.]
Globular and smooth, hard, pale yellowish-green with a hint of crimson, diameter 5.0–25.0 mm; occurs on petioles with an irregular opening or along mid-vein of leaves with a slit-like opening below.
