While R salicisstrobiliscus remains a valid species according to the 2021 Gagne catalog, it is dubiously distinct from R strobiloides both in gall, larval, and adult forms. The distinctions in gall morphology between the Alaskan R cf strobiloides (see ID notes on R strobiloides) and R strobiloides are much larger than those between R strobiloides and salicisstrobiliscus. Trying to distinguish the two galls is likely a waste of time.
