Plant Galls of the Western United States

Callirhytis serricornis
(Andricus serricornis)

This cynipid wasp induces clusters of hard, tiny, kernel-like monothalamous galls of the bisexual generation on the male flowers of coast live oak and interior live oak. The individual galls normally occur in grapelike clusters at the upper end of the catkins.
